Especially in the first third of pregnancy is it important to pay attention to a sufficient supply of folate. Supplemental folic acid intake increases maternal folate level. Low maternal folate level is a risk factor in the development of neural tube defects in the developing foetus.***
LIVSANE Childbearing preferences + Early pregnancy 1 contains as folate source a combination of folic acid and Metafolin®*. Metafolin®* does not need to be converted into its active form by the body, but is directly available for utilisation. The combination of both ingredients supports a sufficient folate supply also in women with impaired metabolism to convert folate. Folate (folic acid and Metafolin®*) has a role in the process of cell division and contributes to normal blood formation and to maternal tissue growth during pregnancy.

***The beneficial effect is observed with a supplementary intake of 400 µg folic acid daily over a period of at least one month before and up to three months after conception.
