Charcoal Capsules
 

Activated charcoal, chlorophyll copper complexes, titanium dioxide, hypromellose.

Adults and children aged 12 years and over: 3-4 capsules, each containing 200 mg of activated charcoal, daily. The daily dose may be increased to 5 capsules, if required. In the event of diarrhoea, take the charcoal capsules until your bowel movements have returned to normal. If the treatment has not helped after three days, please consult a doctor. In the event of poisoning, the dose may be increased without hesitation to up to 50 capsules, which are mixed with water to form a paste. In such a case, it is advisable to also take a saline laxative 30 to 60 minutes later.

PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS: Not suitable for children under the age of 12. Charcoal capsules may not be taken in the event of hypersensitivity to activated charcoal or to any of the other ingredients. Do not use charcoal capsules after the expiry date stated on the pack. Extra care is needed when taking charcoal capsules in the event of: Diarrhoea accompanied by fever, poisoning with corrosive materials and poisoning with pesticides. Charcoal capsules should not be used in the event of poisoning with corrosive materials (strong acids or caustic solutions), as this could impede diagnostic procedures such as oesophagoscopy and gastroscopy. Charcoal capsules should not be taken concomitantly with other medicinal products, as their efficacy may be diminished. Medicinal charcoal may interact with oral contraceptives. You should therefore use an alternative effective and safe method of contraception during treatment. Please inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken/used or intend taking/using other medicinal products. If you stop taking the capsules or want to finish treatment earlier than planned the complaints may return in this case.

SIDE EFFECTS associated with the use of charcoal capsules have not been observed to date. If you notice any side effects, tell your doctor or pharmacist. After very high doses, such as the doses consumed in the event of poisoning, constipation or intestinal obstruction may occur in individual cases. This may be prevented by administering saline laxatives.

Store in a dry place at 25 °C or below.
