How does it work?
LH (luteinizing hormone) is a hormone which triggers ovulation. Approximately 24 to 36 hours prior to ovulation, the LH concentration increases 10 to 20 times. The LIVSANE Ovulation Test Strips detect this hormone through secretion in the urine. The LH increase signalizes the start of your 2 most fertile days for conception. Each pack contains 7 test sticks for you to use once a day over 7 consecutive days so that you can detect your increase in LH. You initially have to determine the day on which you will perform the first test. This day is dependent on the duration of your cycle. The first day of your period is the first day of your cycle. The duration of your cycle starts on the first day of your period until the last day of the cycle before your next period is due (e.g. 28 days).
Do I have to compare the test results collected each day?
No. You just have to compare the two lines on one test stick as each individual test gives a definite result. The used test sticks must be disposed of no later than 10 minutes after use.
I have carried out all 7 tests in a pack as per the instructions but have not been able to detect the LH increase. What should I do?
7 test strips are sufficient for most women to detect the increase in LH. However, if the duration of your cycle fluctuates by more than 3 days, you might need additional test sticks to detect the increase in LH.
What could cause a wrong result?
If you are actually pregnant, have recently been pregnant or have reached the menopause, this could lead to a wrong result. The same applies if you are undergoing fertility treatment with medication that contains LH or hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) – please consult your doctor first in this case. Alcohol and common medicines cannot influence the test result.
I only recently discontinued the contraceptive pill. Can the contraceptive pill affect the test result?
After discontinuation of the contraceptive pill or other hormone medication, it may take several months until your cycle becomes normal again. Wait until you have had at least 2 natural cycles before starting with this test.
Do I have to use all 7 tests in a pack during a menstrual cycle?
No. If you have detected your LH increase, you do not need to carry out any more tests. If necessary, you can keep the remaining test sticks for the next menstrual cycle.
Can I also use the LIVSANE Ovulation Test Strips as a form of contraception?
Can the LIVSANE Ovulation Test Strips also replace the temperature method?
No. This method of natural contraception relies solely on detection of ovulation once it has happened.
I have been detecting my LH increase for several months and despite planned sexual intercourse I have not become pregnant. What can I do?
Becoming pregnant depends on a number of factors. Please consult your doctor on this matter.
